Kimberly grew up on her family’s almond ranch in Northern California. She made a big move from the small-town agricultural community to the city of Chicago where she attended Trinity Christian College. Kim graduated with honors and received her Bachelor’s degree in political science. From a young age, Kim desired to attend law school. In her years working for her family’s almond business, she learned to fully appreciate small businesses and the people and efforts it takes to keep them running smoothly; this instilled her decision to pursue business law. She moved to Sacramento to attend University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. She graduated from McGeorge with great distinction and a business law concentration, and was admitted into the Roger J. Traynor Honor Society for academic excellence.
While attending law school, Kim earned Witkin Awards in Global Lawyering Skills II and in Estate & Gift Tax/Estate Planning. During her second year, she assisted McGeorge’s Community Legal Services by working for the Elder & Health Law Clinic, providing legal assistance to elderly individuals on various issues. She was also a member of the Moot Court Honors Board, where she competed in two national competitions. Kim joined Smith, McDowell & Powell as a law clerk in spring of 2015. Since starting at the firm, Kim has assisted with numerous legal matters including business transactions, corporate formations, estate planning, real estate transactions, and construction, among others.
When she is not working, Kim enjoys spending time with friends or family, and traveling. She studied abroad during college and continues to plan trips to check off places from her ever growing bucket list.
